I can happily report that this issue is resolved. I'm not entirely sure what exactly fixed it but I did the following:

  1. built latest vaultwarden from source and replaced the one that was installed by the community script build
  2. wasn't able to build from source the web ui, so downloaded v 2025.6.0 of linux pre-compiled image, replaced the one installed by the community script
  3. found the entry that was causing the error - deleted the card
  4. didn't realize that after deleting the card I had to empty the trash as it was still causing the card to be synced on the ios device
  5. logged out of the vault from the ios app (it wasn't enough to close it, had to log out!
  6. logged back in - 🎉 🥳 synced and all is well with the world again!

In hind sight I may not have needed to do 1 and 2, just had to delete the silly bad entry and empty trash + logout / re-login to vault.

Posting this for those that may be stuck in a similar situation!
