Please describe your bug

Jellyfin 10.9.2 fails to play Dolby Vision content with Hardware acceleration enabled, the exact same file on the same system plays fine when using 10.8.13.

  • Disabling Hardware acceleration allows the file to be played correctly
  • Direct playback using Chrome (120.0.6099.18) works
  • Forcing transcoding in Chrome (120.0.6099.18) by setting the quality to 720p 6Mbps results in a Playback error message.

Reproduction Steps

  • Set Hardware acceleration to QSV (see screenshot for settings)
  • Add a DV video files to any library
  • Rescan library
  • Play just added video file with Jellyfin client in Safari (17.2.1)
  • File will not play nor is there any error message. Progress wheel keeps spinning.

Originally created by @jimj5031 on GitHub (May 24, 2024). ### Please describe your bug Jellyfin 10.9.2 fails to play Dolby Vision content with Hardware acceleration enabled, the exact same file on the same system plays fine when using 10.8.13. - Disabling Hardware acceleration allows the file to be played correctly - Direct playback using Chrome (120.0.6099.18) works - Forcing transcoding in Chrome (120.0.6099.18) by setting the quality to 720p 6Mbps results in a Playback error message. ### Reproduction Steps - Set Hardware acceleration to QSV (see screenshot for settings) - Add a DV video files to any library - Rescan library - Play just added video file with Jellyfin client in Safari (17.2.1) - File will not play nor is there any error message. @nyanmisaka Now we have reports that not using LXC but docker.

Please disable VPP Tone mapping as a workaround until we found the root cause.

@gnattu I also disabled the app, but still i am also facing the same issue. I am running this on top of truenas (truecharts). does kernel update to the base linux of jellyfin fix this? (6.8/6.9 instead of 6.6)
