Hi! I have a Samsung monitor with the apps and the apps store. So, it can be used similar to a TV w/o the normal antenna port. I tried using your app. It found the monitor. I tried doing the installation and it was asking about being in developer mode, etc. So, I cancel the installation and put the monitor on developer mode. When I tried doing the installation again, it no longer found my monitor. I turned off developer mode, it still couldn't find the monitor. I turned of my router/modem, same issue. Hope you can look into this. Thanks in advance!

@ferrynotfairy thanks for reporting your issue, the tool scans through your network looking for devices with port 26101 open.

It appears at some point that port was open and it probably still is but maybe it's not answering on it (it happens).

Easiest to try right now is:

Image Choose "Other my IP isn't listed" if it isn't opening by itself.

It will show a window like this

Image

Fill in your IP address from the device and it will try to connect with it.

Sorry for the Dutch language on the screenshots btw

Hey! Thanks for the response. I actually did that as well earlier and put it in the IP of the monitor but it still couldn't find the device. 😭

For new models of Samsung TVs and monitors using the new UI, you just go to the Apps tab then scroll down to App Setting then enter 12345 to activate Developer Mode.

@ferrynotfairy and when you did that, did you have to fill in an IP address?

That should be the IP from the host so the laptop running the tool

And what happens when you go to
http://screen-ip:8001/api/v2/

Does it return a JSON?

So after entering 12345, the Developer Mode setting appears letting you select On or Off as well as entering the Host PC IP. After that, the TV/monitor will ask you to restart it. You will know if Developer mode is on after the restart because when you go back to the App Setting, you will see DEVELOPER MODE.

Great, so that's our smoking gun the API isn't responding, probably TV only.

Right now it's in the code like this

var samsungDevice = await GetDeveloperInfoAsync(device);
                        if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(samsungDevice.DeviceName))
                            devices.Add(samsungDevice);

This function GetDeveloperInfoAsync is calling that endpoint and if it can't reach it .DeviceName remains empty and won't be added.

I'll have to think of a fallback mechanism maybe if the API is unresponsive we'll have to try SDB or something.

If your up for it we can try something but it will require some testing on your end, as I don't have a screen like that.

I can put something together in a few days, not as fast as usual cause I'm gone for the weekend.

Sir, I was able to successfully install Jellyfin. What you did worked. Thank you so much for the work. Really really appreciate it!

Question though, why are there different versions of Jellyfin to install? How do I know which one to install?

@ferrynotfairy thanks for confirming, I'll bump the beta to full release; regarding your question;

Jellyfin.wgt Built with the latest stable release of jellyfin-web
10.11.z Built with the bleeding edge of the branch for the 10.11.z releases
10.10.z Built with the bleeding edge of the branch for the 10.10.z releases
master Built with the latest potentially unstable changes to jellyfin-web code (this will always be the newest possible version)
TrueHD TrueHD support is enabled (whether it works or not might depend on TV model)
secondary Built with the latest stable release of jellyfin-web and a different app ID to allow having a second account signed in
OblongIcon Use oblong type icon for TVs required it. See more detail: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-tizen/issues/171
GrayFix Potentially fixes an issue where the bars over and under the video are gray. See more detail: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-tizen/issues/65
SmartHub Add Samsung Smart Hub Preview integration. See more detail: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-tizen/issues/318

the compiled WGT files are fetched from Jeppevinkel's github repo and so is this piece above, I'm running the latest stable release (jellyfin.wgt) cause i'm also not sure what all those releases do haha..
