Thank for your fast response. I tried that and nothing one PVE has def adguard. Removed that and just left CF and google DNS and still the same error.

I can ping and traceroute that domain in host without a problem.

The second PVE 9 env is in a DC doesn't have any custom dns servers. Just using CF and google DNS.
Also adding that I've installed a Docker VM in 2nd env when it was in PVE 8 and after update to 9 this error started without any config/DNS change.

qcow file domain resolves without an issue why it fails after that?

✔️ https://cloud.debian.org/images/cloud/bookworm/latest/debian-12-nocloud-amd64.qcow2
✔️ Downloaded debian-12-nocloud-amd64.qcow2

Inside the unconfigured Vm i got Ip and i can ping debian servers. Very very strange issue.

Tested Docker LXC Script and works without any issue..

But have you tried the script in PVE v9? That error, to me, seems to be very misleading. I got internet connection at the VM and DNS are working properly. I only get problem with that specific script.

yeah, its already in fixing, at ProxmoxVED. But its not so easy in PVE9 (virt-customize doesnt work fine). You can try the same Script with "ProxmoxVED" instead of "ProxmoxVE". (But you need to wait 5-10min after install for the post setup) - its not perfect at the moment, but im very busy this week :(

I got similar errors (unable to resolve cloud.debian.org) in a fresh Trixie install of VE 9.0.10. Eventually that part succeeded after several retries, but then it tried to install squid from the wrong (enterprise) server even though I'm running from the free one and the enterprise one was commented out by post-install. I'm installing onto a Ceph RBD.:

Now I feel stupid. This was on a new host and I didn't even check to see if enterprise was enabled since it's always commented out in post-install! Now I have to retrace my steps and figure out how that snuck in.

Hi,
stumbled across this issue.
I had this problem with virt-customize while trying to build some images (with terraform) too and had to install dhcpd-base on my Proxmox host (PVE 9.0.11)
I found the solution here: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/virt-customize-install-broken.130473/post-797805

For now my solution was to duplicate a current Docker VM i had before and just delete the old containers/volumes to start fresh until this issue is properly fixed on PVE 9

This workaround worked for me. TLDR: run apt install dhcpd-base on the host before running the install script.

yeah, its already in fixing, at ProxmoxVED. But its not so easy in PVE9 (virt-customize doesnt work fine). You can try the same Script with "ProxmoxVED" instead of "ProxmoxVE". (But you need to wait 5-10min after install for the post setup) - its not perfect at the moment, but im very busy this week :(

This workaround also worked for me. You do indeed have to let the VM "cook" for a bit after the install. TLDR: use this script for now bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/community-scripts/ProxmoxVED/main/vm/docker-vm.sh)"
