For Feature Requests

Desired Feature:

Navigation on homepage

Some users are not familiar with BookStackApp are usually hard to find the entry for all books (categories) on the right top. It would be great to implement an option to display a navigation on the side of homepage.

Just my two cents on this feature:

  • Simply list all public books/pages at left side on homepage, or
  • Set an page as the navigation content and display at left side on homepage
  • Both way above have a toggle to expand/collapse the navigation on top.

Thanks.

Hi @phoenixlzx,

I think this issue is pretty similar to what we have here - https://github.com/BookStackApp/BookStack/issues/615 or atleast is trying to address the same problem.

Since setting the books page as home page has been implemented since v0.22, can we go ahead and close this issue?

Hello @Abijeet, thanks for your reply.

I do noticed this issue you mentioned before, however I think a books list does not make a readable "navigation" on UX, that's why I submitted this one.

An organized list of books AND pages at the easily accessible section of index page would obviously help visitors find what they need (or even what the author wanted them to read). At this time, users of my site have to click multiple times, or use search (which isn't so good at our language) to find the contents they are looking for.

It will be a great appreciate if you can consider this feature.

I've updated the title to be a little more descriptive after the latest reply.

The obvious issue with this one is scaling and usefulness. You won't need much until a view like this is not helpful since it's too large. This feature may have too narrow of an audience.

Actually I mean, a customizable side navigation, like the dokuwiki's.
