Describe the Scenario

This is a very minor but inconvenient issue for one user on our instance. They are not able to resize images on a Page by dragging from the corners of the image. Other users in the same Role are able to. They can still manually type in the dimensions by selecting an image and editing its properties.

When editing a page that they have permissions for, if they select an image, they see a light-blue box without corners to drag. The usual dark blue box with adjustable squares on the corners does not appear.

This was working for them the previous week, and the only change to the application configuration was a change to the maximum file sizes in the php-fpm config. That service and apache2 were restarted afterward. This didn't cause any problems for the other users.

Could clearing the application cache possibly help? Or do you have any other tips?

They are the owner of the page and have all four permissions enabled on the Book the page is a part of. I tried having them log out and back in but there was no change. And they can still edit the images, but not by dragging from the corners. So, this is not impacting us very much.

  • Have you verified this yourself by watching them attempt the action?
  • What browser are they using?
  • What editor in BookStack are they using? Click the (?) icon towards the end of the toolbar, What shows first in the popup? The license info or the shortcuts?
  • Does this happen if they start from a fresh blank page, and insert fresh new images?

    I have seen screenshots they provided that show them in "Editing Page" and the lack of draggable resize handles on page elements like photos and tables.

  • What browser are they using?

Another user reported they are seeing the issue in Edge. That hasn't been confirmed though. They haven't responded with information about other browsers.

  • What editor in BookStack are they using? Click the (?) icon towards the end of the toolbar, What shows first in the popup? The license info or the shortcuts?

We are using WYSIWYG:

  • Does this happen if they start from a fresh blank page, and insert fresh new images?
    Yes, it does.

One user has reported that they also can't resize table dimensions (rows, columns, table as a whole) in Chrome.

We will be attempting an update of BookStack this evening, so I will get an update from them in the morning to see if there are any changes. Right now, we are still on v25.07.
