Describe the feature you'd like

Hi, I would love a new entity called videos which would be in books and chapters - it will look like the other entities but when clicked pull up a video - this is already in a page (yes I know) but it would make for a cleaner experience with tutorial videos that don't need an extra few buttons to click into it. So I would like for example a book with chapters in it and then a summary/tutorial video in the book to summarise all of the chapters without having to open a page and then click it. Just a simple video title, optional thumbnail (either uploaded or caught from the YouTube video) and a description.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

This would benefit users who want a clean way to provide customers, colleagues and so forth with a simple way to learn content from visually watching as they may struggle to understand the worded instructions or information.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

It can be done in pages but I think the layout is messy and for people who don't understand mkd, it is difficult. I don't like the idea of the user having to click into the page and have to see a messy title, video link / iframe and description.

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

3 months to 1 year
