Describe the feature you'd like

So, I am utilizing Bookstack as an internal knowledgebase and its lovely simply amazing really. The thing is I need to train some staff and this has traditionally required another tool. Right now I am using Moodle but not only is Moodle really clunky it is heavy. I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate a basic test module, certificate module, and a way to make books that are like required reading. These required books could act like the course work followed by a test. It would be really great to keep my users in one tool, one login, and I know its lean and mean as your software has been. Thanks again and congrats to 10 years of success!

TLDR I want to force users to read content in a book, then take a test that would correlate, then receive some sort of badge showing they completed the training successfully.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

I could see other smaller user bases being able to eliminate more feature rich LMS tools like Moodle, Chamilo, OpenEDX, ILIAS, or some other ones if they only need basic functionalities.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Yes there are other LMS out there, I will say basically zero of them are easy to setup in Docker. Bookstack already has excellent integration for video, docs, WYSIWYG so its 99 percent already there.

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

3 months to 1 year

Thanks for the request and kind words @samschultzponsys.

Going after LMS capabilities is something I'd consider out of scope of what we build BookStack for, so I'm therefore going to close this issue off as out of scope.
I can see why it may be desired, but I don't believe in pursuing other areas beyond our core scope, since that's a slippery slope to difficult management & maintenance.
