Describe the feature you'd like

Please remove the save button and have the system auto-save automatically. It should also auto-refresh the same open document on another system. There is constant version problem. I enter something on one computer, then forget to press save, then I enter something on another computer without refreshing first and end up with different drafts. clicking the save button is so 80s - 90s technology. What google did with google docs and sheets and icloud notes is how everybody is used to work. no save, load, refresh or any drama. please make it like that. this is such a good note taking system, it should not use 80s file save mentality. Just add a feature to lock the page, so it wont be accidentally edited anywhere. And I can hit edit to disengage the lock and continue working on it.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

Bookstack is aimed to be used on your laptop, tablet, mobile phone and desktop computer. everybody is used to how modern cloud based auto-save and auto-refresh works. when I edit something on a page, I have to distract my self away from what I'm doing and think about how bookstack has this 80s / 90s way of saving and I have to remember to hit save everytime I enter a line. then on the desktop or the ipad I then have to remember to refresh everytime before I add another line so there wont be a versioning problem. This is constantly creating problems.

The "benefit" for the system is avoiding being-not-implementing the modern assest management paradigm for cloud based productivity applications.

Another benefit for the user is concentrating on productivity and not unnecessarily dealing with productivity tool, which is not productive.

Another benefit is not constantly falling into versioning problems.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

I couldn't find an "if changes are made, auto-save after x seconds of inactivity" feature.
I also couldn't find an "auto-load if document is edited elsewhere" feature.
so no, this can not be achieved via other means.

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

Under 3 months

Additional context

I find all the notifications about drafing and when it was saved etc to be unnecessary. The system should do it automatically. I don't care if this is a draft, everything is always a draft anyways. I just want to care about what I'm putting into the system. This is the best note taking system ever but the saving mentality is terrible.
