Describe the feature you'd like

The shelf showing the Books can be sorted on the fly by Name, Creation Date and Updated Date, I miss that feature however in the Book Outline View, as I've mocked up in the image below.

The pages within a chapter should follow the sorting order, so if sorted by Updated Date the chapter with the most recent update is listed atop and the pages within the chapter are sorted accordingly.

In addition to the 3 sorting options Name, Creation Date and Updated Date of course Manual Order (or probably better: User Defined???) is also needed.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

Background is that Books are often a messy work in progress with lots of chapters and even more pages. To find/see the newer pages in a Book which one has recently/ the last time worked on, it would be nice to be able to sort them optionally by Updated Date. Yes, there is the Recently Updated Pages view, but that’s spreading across all books, so has a different taste/use case.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Not really. The Recently Updated Pages view isn’t quite the same, when you have many Book, Pages and Users on the system.

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

Since 2019.

Additional context

Might overlap with #5578 , #4852 .
