Describe the feature you'd like

There's an existing feature that shows the number of references to an entity, like a page or book in the details. For example, this book shows that it's being referenced on 1 page.

It would be helpful when using the Reusing Page Content feature if pages that reference another page via its ID were included in that count. There's currently no way, short of querying the database directly, to see how many pages (and which ones they are) are referencing/including content from another page.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

It would make it easier to find all of the references to that page's content, instead of only those that included a link to that page. It's hard to know today if a page's content is being included on other pages. That makes it tricky when updating the content on the page that's being included elsewhere what the ripple effects in those other documents will be or if that page should no longer be included if it doesn't apply anymore.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Manually querying the database for the {{@}} syntax

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundemental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

1 to 5 years
