Describe the feature you'd like

The feature would be a new option, likely near or around the comments, where you can flag a page as "out of date". This will add the page to a bounty board where users can go find out of date documentation to make current. Posting an item on the bounty board will also allow a comment or description of what's wrong.

Alternatively, highlighting a section could add the option to the context menu, though this is harder for users to discover IMO.

The term "Bounty Board" refers to the way some companies offer a bounty for using free time to go clean up documentation (gift card raffle, etc.) so the naming convention is unimportant. If a bounty board, tracking who answered the bounty would be a nice add but also not required to solve the problem.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

Documentation often falls out of date and ideally you have time to make it current while in the document. However, sometimes when doing work you have to come back later to update the documentation. Having a board of out of date items with a comment to go with it allows other resources or the same resource at a later time to update the document and make it current.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Potentially, you could manage this with tags or just comments, but that's not a solid way to track this sort of issue IMO.

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundemental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

1 to 5 years
