Describe the Scenario
My bookstack service worked without problems, but today when I wanted to access as administrator or with any other user, I deleted the main website and I cannot access the settings, I get the following error:
Could someone help me to make the settings tab appear again? Thanks!

Hi @chichocoria,
Just to confirm, were you using a custom homepage and did a user delete that custom homepage?
@chichocoria commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2022):
Yes, I was using a custom home page but no user deleted it, I checked it in the audit logs. What seems strange to me is that I cannot access the settings. I get the error "An unknown error occurred"
@ssddanbrown commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2022):
Yeah, This error will occur if the page, that's set as the homepage, has been deleted.
I'm just trying to understand how a page has been deleted if you're sure no user deleted it.
@chichocoria commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2022):
Thanks for supporting me.

I see the following format in the home page
I can access the database with no problem, look in the table "pages" but can't find the custom homepage entry. It was probably an attack from the Internet?
@chichocoria commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2022):
Is there a way to retrieve or regenerate the settings page to reload a custom home page?
@ssddanbrown commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2022):
This seems a bit too specific to be a general attack. They would either do more damage or do nothing to not be detected.
Within your database:
settingstable, look for a row wheresetting_key=app-homepage. There should be a number in thevaluecolumn. For this number, does a row exist in thepagestable whereid=<value_from_settings_table>?To get things working again, you could make the following changes in the database (Might want to backup first):
settingstable, where rowsetting_key=app-homepage, setvalueto empty.settingstable, where rowsetting_key=app-homepage-type, setvaluetodefault.@chichocoria commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2022):
Thanks @ssddanbrown , I solved the problem.
Change the values as you indicated to me and then I run the command:
php artisan cache: clearIt does not recover the custom home page but I can access settings again!
Thanks for you support!!! 👍
@ssddanbrown commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2022):
@chichocoria Happy to help, deleting the custom homepage should not cause this level of issue so I've updated this issue's title to focus on not have that break, and assigned to next patch release.
Not sure why your page went missing though. Nothing should cause a page to delete itself.
@ssddanbrown commented on GitHub (Jan 10, 2022):
Okay, Done some further testing around this since we did have some protections in place when deleting the page set as the custom homepage.
This scenario could occur when the parent chapter/book of the custom homepage was deleted. This would:
Within
8d91f4369bI've improved our protections to be ran before any deletion operations to prevent the above occurring. Will be part of the next patch release.
