The bug

I am trying to backup all my photos (30k) and after about 4k, the backup shows the backup completed symbol at the top of the screen, and when I go to the backups screen, it shows that it is adding more files to ready to upload, but not actually backing anything up. I don’t think it’s a server issue, it seems to be a mobile app issue as it works fine on another device.

Ok, I removed them from the backup, and it finished (although I only had 800 photos to backup now). How come when I had the 30k before it stopped at 5k in? Most of that 5k is iCloud shared photos.

I’m also having this issue. I’m trying to get the initial backup done and it seems to just repeatedly get stuck at what seems like every 100 photos or so. I initially had a shared album selected. But I tried deselecting it too. Issue still occurs. Yet it’ll show that there’s still like 200-300 queued.

i am not sure if im tripping but I would like to understand why shared album cannot be synced? If i remember correctly, there was a period of time here shared album uploaded well?

Hi,
I have also this issue but not on all my devices :

  • iPhone 13 mini with iOS 26.1 and 24 810 photos/films => issue : stop of the upload, and the backup shows the backup completed symbol at the top of the screen (but in the menu backup of the app, we see that there is remaining upload but not working)
  • iPhone 16 with iOS 26.2 and 3510 photos/films => issue also
  • iPhone 13 with iOS 26.1 and 67 photos/films => it works

If I stop the app, and launch again, the uploads begins again. I manage like this (stop and start) in order to upload all.

Immich server : version 2.4.1 in a LX container on proxmox (PVE help script installation) with all data on a nfs share.

If you need additional information, feel free to tell me.

And thanks to dev for this app

I think this might be related to backing up videos/large files, causing the backup process to hang?

When I try to backup my videos album, it gets stuck. But if I just backup photos (I picked the Live Photos album) the backup starts going again no problem.

Hopefully this shines some light on the issue? Would be good if more people can test this theory
