Please share more detail; what format are these files, what is their EXIF data (as read with exiftool), if you load the original on the web client (by zooming in) does that fix the rotation, etc?

I can't find anything wrong with that file. The EXIF data looks fine, and if I upload it to Immich it's the right way up.

Oh, I see the issue. You're using an unofficial package and I'd assumed that would just be using our docker containers under the hood, but it's not. That means it's almost certainly pulling in bad versions of dependencies, which is bound to mess up the thumbnail generation. So if you want to fix this you should report it to the maintainers of the package you're using (or switch to a supported installation method).
