The bug

I want my iPhone to upload content when the app is not in the foreground or the phone shows the lockscreen. This does not seem to work, the upload stops a few seconds after switching apps or locking the phone.

1. Tap on "Turn on background server" in iOS app; "Only while charging" stays off
2. Tap on "Start backup"; the app starts uploading content to the server
3. Switch to another app in the phone (without quitting the Immich app)
4. Upload from the phone stops after a few seconds

"Start backup" starts a foreground backup that runs while the app is open, that is separate from the background process.

Thanks for the swift response. Unfortunately, I am not following :( If I do not tap on "Start backup", nothing happens (regardless if the app is open or not). Am I missing something too obvious here...?

When the background task runs is mostly up to the whims of Apple, so it could take a while to start. Make sure you leave the app running in the background, don't force close it etc.
