I have searched the existing issues, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate report.

The bug

I recently setup Immich and I am on version 2.0.1.

I installed and configured everything for the external library and it is working well. The issue I have it sorting at the root level. I was looking for a specific folder that started with an "a" and it was at the bottom of the list, after a folder with "w". It appears because this folder has one subfolder, it is viewed differently than folders with multiple subfolders. I would have expected the root level to contain all the folder in alphabetical sorting, just like if you did an ls -al in Linux. Let me know if I can provide any more details.

It appears because this folder has one subfolder, it is viewed differently than folders with multiple subfolders.

Yeah, can confirm, "collapsed" folders are sorted differently in web UI.
That limitation/bug was mentioned in https://github.com/immich-app/immich/pull/21383:

  1. Still not 100% perfect sorting.
The database returns properly ordered records, then frontend puts collapsed folders after regular folders (see the screenshot section).
