The bug

I'm trying to update the rating for multiple assets at once - using Python, but equivalent to:

curl -L -X PUT '/api/assets' \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-H 'x-api-key: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX' \
-d '{
  "ids": [
    "085eb7c3-3124-4cee-b528-38be78c1755b"
  ],
  "rating": 0
}'

This returns a 500 Internal Server Error.
Looking at the logs in the Docker container where Immich is running, I see:

2025-07-06 20:07:03.258 UTC [6329] ERROR: column "rating" of relation "assets" does not exist at character 21
2025-07-06 20:07:03.258 UTC [6329] STATEMENT:  update "assets" set "rating" = $1 where "id" = any($2::uuid[])

Query failed : {
  error: PostgresError: column "rating" of relation "assets" does not exist
    severity_local: 'ERROR',
    severity: 'ERROR',
    code: '42703',
    position: '21',
    file: 'analyze.c',
    line: '2469',
    routine: 'transformUpdateTargetList'
  },

  sql: 'update "assets" set "rating" = $1 where "id" = any($2::uuid[])',
  params: [ 0, "{085eb7c3-3124-4cee-b528-38be78c1755b}" ]
}

Is it possible that something is wrong with the tables in my database? Ratings work properly through the Web UI and the api/:id endpoint for updating the rating of a single asset.

  1. Make a PUT request to /api/assets with the body {"ids":["GUID"],"rating":0}, where GUID is a valid asset ID (and the request is properly authorized)
  2. The server returns a 500 Internal Server error instead of 200 or 204

Same here. With the very same code I can e.g set the description but not the rating.

This payload on the /api/assets endpoint

{
            "ids": ids,
            "description": "my text"
}

This payload returns 500, but still sets the description correctly

{
            "ids": ids,
            "description": "my text",
            "rating": 3
}

And this payload just returns 500 and doesn't do anything

{
            "ids": ids,
            "rating": 3
}

In docker, I see the following error message
