First of all, why can't continue from the record where the backup is, just start from the interrupt there? If not, why should each file be sent to the server for comparison? Can't md5 be calculated on the app for large files and then be compared directly?

If there were more files, starting from scratch each time, when would it be finished?

If it's because you're afraid of having new files, is it okay to start with the oldest file? Why start with the latest file?

The app is not designed as you described above.

Can you help describe what you are seeing and what your setup is?

It is designed to filter out uploaded asset on the device and upload the new one/left-over only

I think I just use it normally. I selected the backup album, and then started the foreground backup and background backup. When I arrived at a fixed backup schedule, there was no progress. Finally, I found that I was uploading file information, starting from the beginning every time, and I accidentally switched to another app

Background backup works in the background thread. It doesn't update the UI when running unless you navigate to the Backup page upon opening the app so that the information can be refreshed.

Foreground backup, once running, will block the background thread, and the foreground will only run when the app is opened.

Can you try to disable both the foreground and background backup to test the manual backup and confirm that it doesn't start over from the beginning every time?

Can you help provide the screen capture so I understand what is happening? It could be a bug that we haven't discovered yet.

If you look at these two pictures, they are both uploading the same file at different points in time. This is the picture at the front. The app everytimes backuped these files at the beginning. If interrupted, it started with the first photo again.

If I disable both the foreground and background backup to test the manual backup, it still started from the beginning.

If you don't see them on the web, it means your server setup has a problem: not writing files into the disk and not writing the information into the database. Thus causing the backup to run all over again.

Can you provide the requested information about your setup when you open a BUG issue?

Can you also try restarting the whole stack, then performing the manual update again? Can you help me get the screen capture by video by chance?

Thank you for the video; it is clearer now. I believe the server has a problem processing the first few files. Therefore, it doesn't register with the database, which causes the upload process to try to rerun it.

You can use the command below to get the log of the microservices.

Thank you for the video; it is clearer now. I believe the server has a problem processing the first few files. Therefore, it doesn't register with the database, which causes the upload process to try to rerun it.

You can use the command below to get the log of the microservices.

docker logs immich_microservices

How to deal with this problem?

I am not sure why some of the files aren't written onto the disk. As you can see in the microservices' log that it cannot find some of the files.

My guess is either some of the photos you try to upload are not supported or are bad/corrupted files. So the server cannot register it into the database, thus causing the reupload. Or this could be a problem with Docker on a Windows machine? Can you run this in WSL2?

I can find the backup files from the hard drive, so I think it's not that the files can't be written to the hard drive, but that they are not recorded on the server, or the app is not recorded.

I tested docker on wsl2 and the problem is still there.

In addition, I created a new account or redeployed the service, and only backed up a few files before this problem occurred again. I can guarantee that the first few photos are complete.

Immich is unusable from my phone since it needs to back up ~1700 photos, but can never sync them properly.
