Describe the bug
After an update to the latest version (via docker-compose pull & docker-compose up), i can no longer view images or thumbnails.

Task List

Please complete the task list below. We need this information to help us reproduce the bug or point out problems in your setup. You are not providing enough info may delay our effort to help you.

  • I have read thoroughly the README setup and installation instructions.
  • I have included my docker-compose file.
  • I have included my redacted .env file.
  • I have included information on my machine, and environment.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Load the WebUI, locations are reserved, but the thumbnails do not load. Clicking on an thumbnail placeholder, opens the next screen, but no image is shown.
  2. Load the Android, locations are reserved, but the thumbnails do not load (pre-cached thumbnails load as normal). Clicking on an thumbnail placeholder, opens the next screen, but no image is shown.

Can you try to bring down all the containers and start them backup? I updated mine without any problem 🤔

Looks like the photos backed up since upgrading work, but anything prior doesn't.

The restart has not helped.

Can you try to attach to the immich-server container and perform ls -la I want to check the user and group of the upload directory.

Just for the sake of trying, can you try to remove the immich-server container and recreate it?

interesting... it seems like all of the original and thumbnails have been deleted/removed.

from inside the container, it can only see a few assets in the upload folder.

but there seems to be a lot of assets in the DB:

@palitu commented on GitHub (Oct 31, 2022): interesting... it seems like all of the original and thumbnails have been deleted/removed. **from inside the container**, it can only see a few assets in the upload folder. ``` /usr/src/app/upload/e4244f56-6d2d-4895-9a67-54593de506e9/original/30b5559cdd8e304f406a038704809fecd81fe5f15ffd143891e216b012d3c07c # ls 090b60bb-87e7-4250-be30-25845bc6d790.mp4 5f34a708-7e2f-4a36-9bfa-cd06d17efb4e.jpg a3b9e241-bab1-4cfd-9069-046a3ad9782a.jpg 1392b922-dced-4f93-84f5-f60a53005c3b.jpg 648310b2-f191-4947-b63b-272f6638cd7d.jpg b4f552f1-e7ed-40e6-a15b-e879235e8d76.jpg 2a51dd64-5d33-49aa-ba67-3ef630361a70.mp4 6a110a1b-0c9d-46e3-b7f5-ec51c406638a.jpg dff3f682-9cf4-4ef1-a4b7-48cd2a401bbb.jpg 2a9f40d5-ccfe-48ab-89c9-188f357c7f0a.jpg 6f47ca45-114d-4de0-97ef-c8e7fa7e0b43.jpg f3716550-b7cb-41cb-a363-d3930e5244ea.jpg 2c7b8442-d751-46de-8fbd-ce1399ac046f.jpg 72c537c9-0425-4f51-bd15-8982237baa62.jpg f91debeb-12f1-48a2-8a7c-7b363ee2ac6b.jpg 34f7718f-370b-4f46-9de2-de7934171851.jpg 7d282c1d-c6eb-4319-bb31-b112b0056d06.jpg fe1079d6-7215-4cc2-8fcd-9291eca54f5e.jpg 3b1eac3e-f11d-4729-9afb-1ada6efc61db.jpg 84c10f20-2150-4a8e-a8c8-8b87bb1778b1.jpg 55077e7b-5884-4ce4-bbff-db4d32a778e6.jpg 90da74fc-f651-468c-a59f-802370d9db23.jpg ``` but there seems to be a lot of assets in the DB: ``` immich=# select count (*) from assets; count ------- 3621 (1 row) ```

uurrgh... i think i have the answer... and it is a terrible case of timing.

Looks like my NAS got assigned a different IP address (how!?!?) after a power outage. so the NFS never remounted properly....

Let me correct it and i will get back to you.

Ah, this would explain why the assets weren't found

yeah...

Is there a way to look for 'unbacked up' assets? i now have a predicament where it has some assets that were backed up whilst the NFS share was down, and are not available.

i believe that they are registered in the DB, but now the files are in a different location.

Can i get into the DB and remove some of the assets so that they are re-uploaded?

(PS - sorry for the run around!)

If the files are in different locations, can you pull out the "recently" uploaded files and put them into their respective directories? Since the filename is generated and registered in the database, once you out them in the correct directory, you shouldn't have any problem displaying them
