The bug

I've setup immich today to try it out as it looks very impressive and promising to fulfill my needs.
For now I do not want to use immich to upload and categorize the uploaded files. I rather want to use it to index my existing external library I store on my Synology NAS device.

So I added another volume to the docker-compose file and mount my photo library as CIFS. I mounted this volume as read-only into both containers (server and microservices) as /external/photo path. immich accepted this path, I clicked the Scan button to start indexing. immich started, my PC's CPU is utilized in 100%, so something's happening, there are more and more black placeholder thumbnmails being added in the main view, but no thumbnails.

I think immich has the write access to the storage folder on my PC as it already saved 8+ GB of thumbs, but still no thumbnails are shown.

Maybe I'm missing something?

There are still thousands of jobs running, so give it a while for those to finish first.

Where one can see this? I'd like to know for the future not to panic too quickly :) Each indexing solution is different e.g. Photoprism does show them immediately after a photo is indexed. Altough e.g. Synology Moments do show them with some delay, but soon after a photo is added to the index, so they show up one by one.

What is the approach in immich? Are they only visible once the indexing is fully complete?
