Reproduction steps

1. Sign out of app, do a fresh sign in.
2. Choose a small set to backup, like Screenshots
3. Turn on background backup, while plugged in, and ensure device is plugged in.
4. Backup makes progress while app is open. If I switch to another app, no further progress is made.

Some errors are present in client log, unclear if they explain the behaviour.

The background backup is entirely separate from the foreground backup, it won't continue the foreground process when you close the app. See https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/4009#discussioncomment-6932307 for a bit more detail.
